Job Description:

THIS IS AN INTERNAL ONLY POSTING. ONLY APPLICATIONS FROM CURRENT COLLEGE EMPLOYEES AND MCCC UNION MEMBERS WILL BE CONSIDERED.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Teaches courses in the areas of Paramedic, Paramedic Clinical, Paramedic Fieldwork and Capstone; coordinates skills lab instructors; collaborates with Program Director, Medical Director and Advisory Board on curriculum development; evaluates student performance; ensures classroom programs meet or exceed National Department of Transportation Paramedic Curriculum  and MA Office of Emergency Medical Services Curriculum;  Provides academic advisement for approximately 18 Paramedic Certificate students; maintains regular office hours; serves on committees as elected or appointed; attends regularly scheduled departmental, divisional and college meetings; and performs other duties as assigned.  Duties may be assigned during day, evening and weekend hours and at multiple campus locations.

 

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a variety of adult learners who are gaining specialty skills in Emergency Medical Services;
  • Current certification as MA EMT-Paramedic with ability to maintain certification;
  • A minimum work history of 5 years of patient-care experience at the Paramedic level;
  • Current certification in CPR, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), and hold a valid MA driver's license.
  • Must be an experienced Advanced Life Support instructor with demonstrated didactic/skills teaching experience;
  • Current Instructor level certification in at least two of the following: ACLS, PALS, PEPP, CPR, PHTLS, and MA Instructor/Coordinator; and
  • Demonstrated experience in web-based instructional technology and patient simulation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree
  • History of patient-care experience in a variety of settings.
  • Knowledge of MA state protocols and EMS-related legislation and global awareness of EMS issues and trends.
  • Familiarity with Massachusetts Advanced Life Support examination process.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting domestic diversity and/or global multiculturalism where appropriate within the curriculum

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  
This is an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funded position. Extension or renewal is contingent on availability of funds.  
 
May be asked to submit evidence of expertise in learning objective development and evaluation strategies. May be asked to present a teaching demonstration to an audience that may include students.  
 
Annual salary range is $36,250 - $48,000, as determined by the collective bargaining agreement provisions.
